Moving Target Defense: Operational Efficiency and the Speed of OT Secure Remote Access

The article explains how Moving Target Defense (MTD) improves operational efficiency and the speed of OT secure remote access by replacing slow, static defenses with dynamic, hybrid systems that boost both security and performance. Traditional “castle-and-walls” cybersecurity slows access—remote connections that once took 7–12 minutes can be cut to about 30 seconds with MTD, which constantly changes network configurations to reduce attacker exposure and force adversaries to expend more effort. Dispel’s Zero Trust Engine uses MTD plus static defenses and geographically close virtual desktops to eliminate delays, tighten security (e.g., dynamic IPs, credential cycling), support seamless integration, and enable faster, secure remote monitoring and maintenance of industrial control systems.
