7-Day Pipeline Revival: Rapid Rehabilitation of a High-Pressure Sour Gas Line

This case study details the rapid rehabilitation of a failed 8” high-pressure sour-gas pipeline in the Persian Gulf using composite pipe relining technology. The 1.14-mile offshore pipeline operated at 1,200 psi and had suffered severe corrosion damage due to hydrogen sulfide. Canline Pipeline Solutions restored the line in just seven days using pigging, rope pull-through, and composite pipe insertion, followed by pressure testing up to 1,700 psi. The project avoided full pipeline replacement, saved $4–5 million, minimized production downtime, and restored operations safely, demonstrating the economic and operational value of advanced pipeline rehabilitation methods.
