After the Davidson Colored School burned in the 1930s, teacher Ada Jenkins led the community to build a new brick school, later renamed the Ada Jenkins School and serving Black students until integration in 1966. Today, the Ada Jenkins Center continues her legacy by supporting economic stability in northern Mecklenburg County through workforce development, education, and referrals for safer housing. Iron Mountain’s records‑management software helped the Center organize and secure its growing volume of client files, program records, and grant documentation, enabling faster retrieval, better compliance, and more efficient service delivery while preserving the integrity of sensitive personal information.
