Astra leveraged Altair SimSolid to accelerate the design and validation of rocket launch systems and spacecraft engines. Traditional FEA workflows were too slow and complex for rapid iteration. SimSolid enabled engineers to perform fast, accurate structural and thermal analyses directly on full CAD assemblies without meshing or geometry simplification. Analysis time was reduced by an order of magnitude while maintaining accuracy consistent with test data. The tool allowed earlier design insight, faster decision-making, and reduced reliance on specialized analysts, enabling Astra to shorten development cycles and bring reliable aerospace products to market faster.
