This long‑established public university, a global higher education leader with nearly 30,000 students, about 2.89 billion dollars in revenue, and a 279‑acre campus, used Accruent’s EMS to integrate its event schedules with the Johnson Controls MSEA controls system and reduce energy waste in the student union. EMS schedules now drive HVAC operation so heating and cooling occur only in rooms that are actually occupied, eliminating unnecessary conditioning from 6:00 am to midnight across 26 high‑use spaces. By automating room‑by‑room controls and aligning EMS with energy‑management workflows, the university cut energy consumption and support costs while improving sustainability and operational efficiency across the campus.
