CASE STUDY: Primary Wave
Historic record label Sun Records, home to Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and others who helped define rock and roll, country, and blues, faced a decades‑old archive threatened by mold, material degradation, and scattered storage. After Primary Wave acquired Sun and its master recordings, Iron Mountain’s media‑archive software enabled on‑site experts in Nashville to assess, clean, and safely rehouse fragile tapes, then digitize and restore the collection under controlled conditions. The platform organized each file with metadata, tracked its chain of custody, and made the restored masters easily searchable and shareable, ensuring these iconic recordings remain preserved, protected, and accessible for future generations.
