This case study describes how City University of Hong Kong modernized cloud data protection to safeguard more than 5,000 Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace accounts. As an early cloud adopter, CityU faced increased risk from accidental deletion and ransomware due to Microsoft’s limited native retention capabilities. The IT team sought a cloud-native, scalable solution that eliminated hardware management and reduced total cost of ownership. By implementing a SaaS-based data resiliency platform, CityU gained isolated, full-forever backups, granular self-service restores, and improved visibility into 160 TB of cloud data. Email and file restoration times were reduced from days to minutes, significantly improving user experience and operational efficiency.
