Clothing Brands Complete Complex Cross-Country Relocation to Consolidate Data Centers
Two major American clothing brands, owned by a private equity firm, needed to relocate a complex and aging data center from Chicago to Southern California within 48 hours to consolidate operations and save $1 million monthly in rent. Partnering with Insight, the brands developed a comprehensive plan, including rack consolidation from 42 to nine and the chartering of a plane to transport nearly 150 pieces of equipment storing up to 90 terabytes of data. Despite severe weather delays, Insight coordinated cabling, system reboot sequencing, and on-site support to meet the deadline. The move delivered a consolidated, cost-saving data center.
