This white paper describes how NDT Global deployed advanced ultrasonic inline inspection (EVO Eclipse UCx) to detect cracks—including difficult hook, tilted, and skewed cracks—in an 18-inch NGL pipeline. Because blended NGLs have challenging acoustic properties, the team performed a detailed medium assessment to determine sound velocity and optimal sensor angle. Field PAUT verification confirmed high accuracy. The study demonstrates a reliable alternative to hydrostatic testing for crack management.
