Delivering Simultaneous Heating and Cooling in a Modern Hotel
This case study explains how a newly developed 187-room waterfront hotel implemented a Hybrid Variable Refrigerant Flow (HVRF) system to provide independent room temperature control, simultaneous heating and cooling, and improved operational efficiency. The solution uses water as the heat-transfer medium within occupied spaces, reducing refrigerant leak risks and simplifying compliance requirements. Advanced centralized controls integrate with the building management system, allowing comprehensive monitoring, alarm management, occupancy-based temperature setbacks, and energy-saving strategies. Heat recovery between zones improves efficiency, while corrosion-protected outdoor equipment enhances long-term reliability in the coastal environment. The project delivered high guest comfort, operational flexibility, reduced maintenance requirements, and lower lifecycle operating costs.
