Dymaco, a Canadian engineering consultancy, used Altair S-FRAME and S-STEEL to design an 80-foot-tall mining Galloway structure subjected to extreme eccentric, torsional, and dynamic loads. The system’s rotating deck and heavy drilling equipment created complex load paths that were impractical to evaluate using conventional tools. S-FRAME enabled detailed finite element modeling of stiffeners, connections, and load transfer mechanisms while complying with Australian mining codes. The solution allowed engineers to optimize weight, prevent plastic deformation, and validate safety without external support. Simulation ensured structural integrity, reduced risk, and made a previously unfeasible design achievable.
