Driving HPC excellence
The University of Tartu’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) Center, established in 2008, supports academic, public sector, and commercial research across Estonia. Facing growing data volumes and increasing demand for parallel processing, the center sought a more powerful, cost-efficient, and easier-to-manage HPC infrastructure. Working with partner Kernel AS, it deployed a Lenovo ThinkSystem SR665-based cluster powered by dual AMD EPYC 7003 Series processors and Lenovo DSS-G appliances. The migration was completed smoothly across two sites with no noticeable disruption to users, while maintaining existing cloud and Kubernetes-based workflows. The new infrastructure improved performance, scalability, security, and cost efficiency, enabling advanced research in genomics, self-driving vehicles
