The carrier component was redesigned for additive manufacturing to reduce support structures, material usage, and post-processing effort. By applying topology optimization and manufacturing constraints such as the 45-degree rule, the team reduced printing volume by 45%, printing time by 35%, and post-processing effort by over 50%. Hydraulic resistance loss was reduced by 270%. The optimized design improved stiffness, manufacturability, and suitability for series production, enabling safer and more efficient firefighting equipment.
