Case Study
Innovating 911 Compliance Testing
This case study explains how a North American communications provider replaced costly field testing with automated remote validation of emergency-call routing. During migration from legacy TDM trunks to IP infrastructure, the FCC required proof that selected 911 calls reached the correct Public Safety Answering Points with clear audio and accurate location information. Keysight VisionWorks virtual test agents simulated calls from designated network locations, validated routing digits, voice connectivity, and longitude and latitude data, and reached restricted or weather-affected areas without technicians. The provider later converted the system into nightly assurance testing, using multiple agents to place thousands of calls. This reduced operating costs, improved coverage, detected outage
