Kyoto University’s HPC Resources Power Japan’s Research Community
Kyoto University operates one of Japan’s most important academic supercomputing centers, supporting over 1,600 users across diverse research disciplines. To manage increasing computational demand, the university deployed multiple Cray supercomputing systems orchestrated by Altair PBS Professional. The workload manager enabled policy-based scheduling, efficient resource utilization, and customization to meet diverse research needs. The system supports memory-intensive and highly parallel workloads while controlling energy costs. With PBS Professional, Kyoto University strengthened its HPC ecosystem, improved service levels for internal and external researchers, and ensured scalable, future-ready infrastructure for advanced scientific research.
