Offloading SaaS Traffic Improves SSL Virtualization Functionality

Pages 6 Pages

The University of the Ryukyus strengthened its IT infrastructure to handle increased traffic on its academic network, SINET, while reducing costs to about half of the anticipated amount. The solution enabled offloading of SaaS traffic such as Microsoft 365 and improved security through SSL/TLS traffic inspection and enhanced firewall functionality. Key challenges included supporting growing SaaS traffic, avoiding the high cost of adding distributed UTMs, and creating a flexible system to manage virtualization across diverse faculty policies. The project was led by Yasuharu Okawa from the Information Technology Center.
