Oxfordshire County Council modernized its IT infrastructure by replacing legacy WAN, VPN, and firewall technologies with the Zscaler Zero Trust Exchange, creating a cloud-native architecture that securely supports more than 5,900 employees serving over 725,000 residents. After migrating to Microsoft 365, the council recognized that traditional perimeter-based networking caused traffic backhauling, poor user experience, and high operational costs. By deploying Zscaler Internet Access (ZIA) and Zscaler Private Access (ZPA), the council eliminated VPNs, enabled secure direct-to-cloud connectivity, protected public Wi-Fi services, and significantly reduced dependence on traditional WAN infrastructure.
