KTM adopted Altair ultraFluidX to accelerate development of a new motorcycle muffler while balancing sound regulations, acoustic quality, and engine performance. Traditionally reliant on physical prototypes and testing, KTM transitioned to virtual CFD and aero-acoustic simulation to predict pressure distributions and transmission loss. Using ultraFluidX’s lattice-Boltzmann approach, engineers simulated the full exhaust system directly from CAD without meshing, completing setup in just hours. Simulation results closely matched test bench data, allowing rapid comparison of design variants without building prototypes.
