PPE Standardization Cuts Costs & Eliminates Worker Skin Irritations
A large appliance manufacturer experienced worker skin irritation and inconsistent performance from existing protective gloves used in production. A comprehensive PPE assessment evaluated most of the facility’s operations to identify better protection solutions and opportunities for product standardization. New cut-resistant gloves and protective sleeves were introduced across multiple tasks to improve comfort, durability, and safety. The replacement gloves lasted three times longer than the previous products and eliminated skin irritation issues. Standardizing PPE across applications reduced product complexity while improving worker satisfaction and safety performance. The initiative ultimately delivered major financial benefits, including roughly 50% cost reduction and approximately $250,000 in annual savings.
