Preventing Motor Failures with Mechanical Thermography
This case study demonstrates how routine mechanical thermography identified abnormal overheating in a large DC motor before a major failure occurred. Thermal imaging revealed a significant temperature increase that led investigators to discover a blocked cooling air filter restricting airflow through the motor. Correcting the issue prevented damage to motor windings and bearings, improved equipment reliability, reduced operating costs, and extended asset life.
