Case Study
Quickly Isolating Cloud-Based Application Issues
This case study describes how an IT team used IOTA to resolve intermittent performance problems affecting a cloud-hosted application at a remote office. Because the issue rarely occurred while engineers were on-site and server-side capture was unavailable, IOTA was installed between the client network and edge router for persistent monitoring. During the next incident, dashboards showed that server response times remained normal, while network round-trip time exceeded two seconds and packet retransmissions increased sharply. Bandwidth analysis then revealed recurring Microsoft 365 traffic spikes linked to one user. The root cause was a computer mistakenly configured to perform a full cloud backup every hour, creating congestion and packet loss. Remote packet capture and historical analysis
