Safer, Faster Motor Changeouts with Switch-Rated Plugs
Industrial motor changeouts typically require electricians to disconnect power using safety disconnect switches and then verify de-energization through visual inspection or voltage testing, procedures that expose workers to energized parts and require PPE under electrical safety standards. An alternative approach uses switch-rated plug and receptacle devices that safely break the load when unplugged, provide visual confirmation of de-energization, and prevent access to live contacts with safety shutters. This approach simplifies lockout/tagout procedures, reduces exposure to electrical hazards, eliminates many live-work scenarios, and allows motors to be prewired and quickly connected or replaced in the field.
