The Wellcome Sanger Institute needed to optimize genome sequencing pipelines generating hundreds of gigabytes of data per sample. Using Altair Mistral and Breeze, researchers profiled I/O behavior on both HPC clusters and cloud environments. The tools identified inefficient small-read patterns and validated cost-effective cloud storage choices. Optimization reduced pipeline runtime from 32 to 18 hours and lowered project costs by 10%. Profiling enabled scalable, portable pipelines critical for large-scale genomic research and healthcare innovation.
