Val Verde Unified School District in California partnered with Lenovo to expand esports opportunities and integrate gaming into student learning. Serving more than 19,000 students across 22 schools, the district viewed esports as a way to develop teamwork, leadership, communication, and career skills. With support from Lenovo Esports Event Service, Val Verde launched district-wide esports tournaments using Lenovo Legion gaming systems, monitors, accessories, and managed event services. Lenovo handled planning, equipment deployment, networking, project management, and on-site support, allowing the district to run large-scale competitions efficiently. The inaugural tournament attracted 154 student participants and 20 teams, while nearly 200 students registered for the following year’s event.
