This white paper compares the costs of running an industrial IoT use case using three different databases: MongoDB, TimescaleDB and CrateDB. The workload simulated a manufacturer with a 100 production plants, making a total of 5,000 sensors. 6 billions rows were generated. The queries allowed to know the value of any given sensor overtime, allowing to select specific factories or to group them by countries. The results show the importance of taking into account the requirements of the use case when evaluating the database costs, going beyond the monthly price. Des
