Transforming Manufacturing Supply Chains with Digital Twins
This Pitch-In case study highlights how researchers from Cambridge and Oxford developed a reference framework for Supply Chain Digital Twins (SC-DT) to improve supply chain visibility and efficiency. By integrating IoT and real-time data, SC-DTs enable monitoring, simulation, and scenario planning. The project identified gaps in definitions, standards, and adoption. An industry workshop with companies like Unilever and Siemens explored SC-DT’s potential. Future work includes building a proof-of-concept to validate the framework and advance IoT-enabled supply chain management using machine learning and big data.
