User-Centered Information Architecture Strategy for a Leading Nonprofit Organization
A large nonprofit organization faced challenges in finding and sharing information, leading staff to rely heavily on personal networks to locate expertise. This issue was worsened by having two overlapping information platforms, creating confusion about where to access resources, especially across the national organization and its partner network. The lack of clear structure and guidance reduced efficiency and slowed collaboration. Additionally, the absence of formal knowledge transfer and offboarding processes resulted in important institutional knowledge being lost as experienced employees left, further impacting the organization’s ability to maintain continuity and effectively leverage its collective expertise.
