Zero Flaring, Maximum Flexibility: How Dragon LNG Mastered Boil-Off Gas

Pages 2 Pages

This case study describes how Dragon LNG upgraded its Milford Haven regasification terminal with a Wärtsilä boil-off gas (BOG) reliquefaction package to improve flexibility and environmental performance. The terminal, operating since 2009 with two 163,000 m³ LNG tanks, required a solution to manage BOG during zero gas send-out periods. Wärtsilä’s nitrogen-based reversed Brayton cycle system reliquefies BOG efficiently, enables a zero-flare operating policy, replaces on-site cogeneration, and improves LNG yield during periods of gas delivery to the UK National Gas Transmission System.
