Mastering Waterjet Safety
This document establishes Veolia’s safety standard for high-pressure and very high-pressure water jetting activities. It identifies major hazards including injection injuries, hose failures, noise, slips, electrical hazards, chemical exposure, static electricity, and heat. The standard emphasizes applying the hierarchy of controls, favoring automation over manual operations, and specifies detailed human, organizational, and technical requirements covering training, certifications, inspections, risk assessments, emergency procedures, PPE, equipment controls, and maintenance practices. Additional safeguards are mandated for very high-pressure applications to reduce the risk of severe injury and improve operational safety.
