Single Touch Payroll (STP) is an Australian government initiative that streamlines employer reporting by sending payroll details to the ATO every pay cycle through STP‑enabled software. Reported data includes wages, PAYG withholding, and superannuation. In the 2019–20 Budget, the government announced STP Phase 2, expanding the information collected to reduce the need for employers to report to multiple agencies. STP Phase 2 became mandatory on January 1, 2022, and employers may submit data directly or through service providers with approved STP Phase 2–enabled systems.
