RXO’s Logistics Professional’s Guide to KPIs shows that transportation KPIs are now foundational to modern supply chain management, with 89% of shippers and 90% of carriers agreeing they are essential. Based on a survey of 1,000 North American logistics leaders, the report finds both sides far more data-driven than in 2022, reviewing KPIs more frequently, trusting data accuracy more, and relying less on manual tools in favor of ERP, WMS, TMS, control towers, and AI. While AI use is growing—mainly for KPI management, forecasting, and operations—the biggest challenge remains turning data into actionable strategy. The study highlights OTIF pressure, appointment scheduling friction, and evolving priorities like sustainability, and establishes shared industry benchmarks (e.g., ~95% on-time performance, forecast accuracy within ~10%, faster carrier payment). It concludes that clear standards, scorecards, and proactive communication help shippers become “partners of choice,” improving capacity, rates, and long-term performance.
