OpenText’s survey of 152 corporate decision-makers reveals a significant gap between confidence in identity and access management (IAM) and readiness to secure non-human identities such as AI agents. While 70% describe their IAM programs as mature, roughly half cannot apply differentiated policies to NHIs, and only 9% fully onboard new AI agents through identity management processes. Long-lived credentials and inconsistent access reviews remain common, while over-privileged access is the top concern. With AI-agent adoption expected to grow, organizations need stronger identity governance, dynamic access controls, continuous monitoring and human oversight to safely manage increasingly autonomous systems.
