The NSFOCUS H1 2022 Global DDoS Attack Landscape report reveals a 205% surge in attacks compared to 2021, marking a four-year high. Southeast Asia experienced the most incidents, followed by Japan, South Korea, and North America. The gaming industry remained the primary target, accounting for 40% of attacks. UDP floods made up 65% of all DDoS vectors, while TCP reflection and PSH-ACK attacks grew in frequency, with some peaking near 900 Gbps. Mirai and Dofloo botnets were responsible for over 90% of DDoS commands, with Mirai alone driving 60% of attacks. Most attacks lasted under 30 minutes, and 88% of botnet controllers were based in North America and Europe.
