This report pulls together survey data from over 500 IT and security leaders to show how organizations are handling sensitive content across email, file sharing, MFT, and other channels. A major takeaway is the visibility gap: 57% of organizations say they cannot properly track or control external data sharing, which creates serious governance risk. At the same time, two-thirds of organizations exchange sensitive data with more than 1,000 third parties, increasing exposure once data leaves their environment. The report also shows that tool sprawl directly increases risk—organizations using seven or more communication tools are 3.55 times more likely to experience 10+ data breaches.
