This HMG Strategy research report explores how organizations are transitioning from remote work to sustainable hybrid work environments while strengthening cybersecurity. Based on a survey of 138 CIOs, CISOs, and technology leaders, the report finds that although many organizations have made significant progress toward hybrid work, nearly half are still refining their long-term strategies. It identifies legacy VPN infrastructure, remote access complexity, third-party access, BYOD security, and cloud migration as key challenges that hinder secure hybrid work. The report recommends replacing traditional perimeter-based security with Zero Trust architectures that provide application-specific access, continuous verification, reduced attack surfaces, and improved user productivity.
