Zscaler ThreatLabz 2023 Enterprise IoT and OT Threat Report
This report analyzes three billion IoT device transactions from more than 850 device types and six months of malware telemetry to examine security risks across enterprise IoT and OT environments. IoT malware attacks increased by over 400% compared with the previous year, with Mirai and Gafgyt accounting for most malicious activity. Manufacturing generated the highest IoT traffic and experienced more than half of all malware attacks, while routers remained the most frequently targeted devices because of exposed vulnerabilities. The report also reviews global attack trends, legacy vulnerability exploitation, and the convergence of IoT and OT before recommending Zero Trust security, device visibility, segmentation, continuous monitoring, and secure management of industrial systems.
