This report analyzes more than 1.2 billion prevented data loss incidents across the Zscaler cloud from February to December 2024, showing how sensitive data leaks through AI applications, SaaS platforms, email, and file-sharing tools. It finds 4.2 million AI app violations, more than 872 million SaaS violations across 3,000+ applications, nearly 104 million email-related incidents, and 212 million file-sharing violations. The most exposed data includes Social Security numbers, full names, source code, medical data, financial data, and national identifiers. The report recommends unified, AI-driven data protection that can discover, classify, monitor, and secure sensitive data across all channels to reduce leakage and supply chain risk.
