The VIAVI EDC‑1 Engineered Diffuser is a polymer‑on‑glass micro‑replicated optic designed to homogenize light by expanding the illumination field and shaping it into a flat‑top intensity profile. The EDC‑1‑07108‑A model features a circular pattern with a 1.16° ±5% divergence angle. Built on a Schott Borofloat 33 substrate, it has a total thickness of 2.1 mm with a 2 mm substrate layer. The polymer material has an index of refraction of 1.5466 at 940 nm, and the diffuser provides a centered 95 percent clear aperture with a 400–2000 nm transmission range. Divergence may vary slightly with wavelength.
