FortiDDoS and Baffin Bay Networks combine on-premises and cloud-based defenses to protect networks from high-volume Layer 3, Layer 4, and Layer 7 distributed denial-of-service attacks. FortiDDoS continuously monitors local traffic, detects attacks, and mitigates threats up to the available link capacity. When an attack approaches a customer-defined bandwidth threshold, the appliance uses an open RESTful API to notify Baffin Bay Networks with details about attack type, size, subnets, and targeted addresses. Riverview then activates filters and uses BGP diversion to redirect traffic to globally distributed Threat Protection Centers for scrubbing.
