Producer-Owned Reinsurance Companies/Cells
Producer‑owned reinsurance companies or cells (PORCs) allow intermediaries, brokers, MGAs and other insurance producers with profitable books of business to expand revenue and gain greater control over underwriting capacity. By creating a producer‑sponsored reinsurer, they can underwrite a share of insurance products on a reinsurance basis through a customized facility. These structures rely on a partnership with an authorized insurer to provide fronting for regulatory policy issuance and claims handling, giving producers more influence without full carrier ownership.
