This quick card explains how to update the software on a SmartClass 4800 or T‑BERD/MTS‑5800 using a wired Ethernet connection. The tester must be connected to a LAN with internet access, as updates cannot be performed over Wi‑Fi or mobile hotspots. Units more than two major versions behind should not update directly online and must instead be upgraded in stages using the USB update method. Once connected, the device can download and install the latest software revision, ensuring optimal performance, compatibility, and access to new features.
