Three Steps for Assessing Password Risks for CIOs and CISOs
With 921 password attacks per second, workforce credentials now carry the same risks as privileged accounts. Many apps fall outside SSO, leaving employees to use weak or reused passwords stored in unsafe ways like spreadsheets or consumer-grade tools, which lack auditing and control. CIOs and CISOs should assess risks in three steps: identify known issues such as unmanaged apps and poor storage, uncover hidden risks by mapping unprotected applications and user practices, and address gaps with enterprise-grade controls. These include centralized storage, encryption, secure sharing, password generation, and visibility for audits and high-risk app sessions.
