DNS is essential for network connectivity, but it has also become a major attack vector for cyber threats and data exfiltration. As organizations embrace hybrid work and IoT, limited visibility and encrypted DNS traffic create security blind spots. Common DNS-based attacks include DNS tunneling, where attackers use DNS requests and responses to communicate with compromised devices, deliver malware, or exfiltrate stolen data in small chunks. Another threat is DNS spoofing, often carried out through man-in-the-middle (MitM) attacks, where attackers alter DNS records or inject false information into DNS caches.
