This whitepaper focuses on validating operator-facing HMIs in edge energy devices such as meters, relays, inverters, and controllers. It highlights that traditional automation struggles because production firmware rarely exposes UI metadata, frame-buffer access, or reliable hooks, making simulator-based testing incomplete. The proposed answer is a “screen-as-contract” model in which the rendered screen itself becomes the test surface. The architecture combines physical or electrical navigation, controlled industrial-camera capture, AI-based screen text extraction, deterministic parsing, and rule-based validation.
