A Philips report highlights that imaging influences most clinical decisions and delivers significant value, with some studies showing returns of more than $30 for every $1 invested in cancer diagnostics. However, access remains limited, with an estimated two-thirds of the global population lacking adequate imaging services. Emerging technologies such as AI, portable imaging devices, teleradiology, and integrated diagnostics are improving diagnostic accuracy, workflow efficiency, and access to care while reducing costs and diagnostic errors. To close gaps and improve outcomes, the report recommends increased investment in imaging infrastructure, workforce development, digital connectivity, and reimbursement models that recognize the value of diagnostics in delivering more effective, equitable, and sustainable healthcare.
