Building Resilient Futures: The Spectro Cloud 2024 State of Production Kubernetes
Based on a survey of 416 Kubernetes practitioners and decision-makers plus six interviews, this report finds that Kubernetes adoption is maturing while operational pressure rises. Seventy-five percent are strategically committed to Kubernetes, and 57% run more than 20 production clusters, yet 77% say complexity has inhibited adoption. Stack selection, configuration drift, security, costs, skills, and inconsistent environments remain major problems, with more than 60% reporting increased TCO and cost pressure. Organizations are shifting from DIY approaches toward commercial management platforms, multicluster isolation, and platform engineering. AI is a major growth driver: 43% already run production AI on Kubernetes, while 73% of edge Kubernetes users deploy AI at the edge. Broadcom’s VMwar
