Displacing Traditional AC Infrastructure in Hotel Guest Rooms with Digital Electricity Technology
This paper compares traditional AC power distribution with a zone-based FMP network (VoltServer Digital Electricity) to power AC receptacles in hotel guest rooms and common areas. The AC receptacles are the only aspect of powering guest rooms that has not been demonstrated in previous installations. The analysis considers the entire labor and material impact of powering the receptacles reflected in the building distribution system. For the AC case, this included conduit and wiring, receptacles, junction boxes, panel boards, transformers, and switchboard componentsdown through the building to the service inlet. For the FMP case, it includes the local zone distribution as well as the distribution from the central transmitters, the transmitters themselves, and power distribution from the building service to the transmitters.
