Enemy of the State

Enemy of the State

Pages 6 Pages

DDoS attacks targeting stateful devices have surged because firewalls, VPNs, and similar systems maintain connection tables that can be easily overwhelmed. Attackers exploit this by flooding devices with malicious traffic until their state tables fill, causing outages and preventing legitimate access. Firewalls and VPN concentrators are especially vulnerable because they must track session states, making them prime targets for exhaustion attacks. As cyberattacks grow more frequent and complex, organizations must strengthen defenses with stateless protection mechanisms, improved visibility, and dedicated DDoS mitigation to prevent these devices from becoming single points of failure.
