FourKites Global Ocean Report H1 2022
The FourKites Global Ocean Report H1 2022 shows that supply chains faced continued disruptions from COVID-19 shutdowns, labor shortages, inflation, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, driving higher costs and delays. Shanghai lockdowns cut shipment volume by 32% in Guangdong, while fuel costs and slow steaming added transit time. European imports saw dwell times rise 28% after the war began, worsening material shortages. Despite challenges, global ocean transit times eased slightly from a peak of 49 to 43.7 days, though still 19% higher than 2021. Demand for ocean visibility surged 231% as shippers sought resilience, accurate ETAs, and exception management.
