Interference in Cellular Networks

Pages 9 Pages

Interference is a frequent issue in cellular networks, as many wireless services operate across the spectrum and can create signal collisions. Even when external sources do not produce harmonics, frequency drift, or leakage, internal interference can occur within a cell site due to poor conductivity in passive components such as connectors, cables, and antennas. These faults can generate intermodulation signals that fall within the same uplink band as mobile transmissions, degrading network performance. Identifying and addressing these internal interference sources is essential for maintaining reliable RAN operation.
